The Final Blog
I think that the blog activity was interesting and different in general, sometimes it was bored but anyway it helped me to improve my writing skills a lot. I learnt new vocabulary about different topics: music, movies, series, books, and law. Also I learnt how to use the verbal times correctly and I improve my reading skills too, while I commented in my classmates’ blogs. Sometimes the topic lets you show your interiority and I met lot of interesting and nice people in this course, with different feelings, likes and dreams. In the future I would include more topics that are unrelated to the career, because in the free courses we want to scape a bit of the career, and write about something different is a good option. Topics like: “what is your favorite (something)” or “what do you like to do when…” or “where was the best trip that you ever done” … maybe, just saying. Topics that let you have fun writing them. Maybe I would include more images, videos and interactive things. Make comments about a video or an image or watching a movie sometime and talk about it, I don’t know, you are the planners, be creative :). By the way, thanks for all teacher, you are great :P

My Favorite
TV show
When I was
younger, there was a lot of tv shows very interesting. The cartoons were
awesome on 90’s and 2000. Dragon Ball, Hunter X Hunter or Captain Tsuabasa (los
supercampeones) were some of my favorites ones.
But now on
TV we just can watch bizarre cartoons as Adventure Time or just garbage TV
shows on Chilean TV. The best series come from foreign countries: Game of
Thrones, Spartacus, Lost and one of my favorite ones, Breaking Bad (sorry
teacher, but I prefer to see Malcom’s dad cooking metha than being a normal
man).
I saw
Breaking Bad on summer, and I think that is the best serie I ever seen. It has
everything: drugs, science, violence, police, guns and even a Chilean character
that loves the paila marina.
Walter
White is a Chemical teacher in the Albuquerque institute. He was 50 years old
and discovers that he has incurable lung cancer. He is married with Skyler and
father of a disabled son. The brutal news will give Walter a drastic change to
his life and he decides to make drug to sell, with the help of a former
student, Jesse Pinkman. Its main purpose is not to enrich himself, but to solve
the economic problems of his family after his irreversible death. Thanks to his
knowledge of chemistry, he can make the best meth in the market. From there the
problems begin.
It’s a very
recommendable serie, if you haven’t seen it yet. The tittle of it is because
you can see how Walter White begins his evolution from a simple school teacher into
a drug lord.

A movie that I like
It’s really hard to decide what my favorite movie is so I just will talk you about a film that I liked very much since I watched it. As teacher’s blog, this movie is based on a dystopian novel by Anthony Burgess. Its name is A clockwork orange. The movie is directed by the great director Stanley Kubrick. I saw this movie a few months ago and I really liked it so I hope to read the book too.

I saw this movie a few months ago and I really liked it so I hope to read the book too.
The movie
talks about Alex, a teenager that lives in a dystopian future England. He is
the leader of a band of teenagers that dedicate to cause pain, suffering and
all the acts that generate violence to the other people. They enjoy it very
much because they consume milk-plus that is milk mixed with drugs. They speak
in strange English with words influenced by Russian, this is the Nadsat, a
language created by the author to contextualize the readers into the dystopian
future.
In some of
their misdeeds, Alex is kept by the police and in spite of his age, he is
jailed, because he just murdered a woman. Being in jail, Alex listens about a
treatment that changes the prisoners to become them into good people. It’s
based on the classical conditioning of the psychology, which justify their
effects in negative reinforcement.
Finally the
treatment works on Alex, but his life will change forever. I will not say
anything else to not spoil the people that did not watch this movie.
The movie
show us the evilness of humanity combined with the science advances, that could
bring us a dystopian world as is proposed here.
There is an
interesting polemic between the author of the book and the director, but you
can read more about this on the internet.

An expert
in your field
Today I’m
going to talk you about a Chilean historical character. The most of the people
don’t know that he was a lawyer, but he is well known as “el guerrillero”, his
name, Manuel Javier Rodriguez Erdoiza.
Manuel
Rodriguez on his early age studied at Convictorio Carolino, with some of the
young ones that will be very involved in the independence of Chile, as Jose
Miguel Carrera, a personal friend of Rodriguez. Then he studied law at Real
Universidad de San Felipe (after independence known as Universidad de Chile)
and became a lawyer in 1807. During Jose Miguel Carrera’s government, he served
as Minister of Finance and Defense and personal secretary of Carrera. His most
important work was during the Spanish Reconquest, serving as José de San
Martín’s spy, wearing different disguises as monk or simply farmer. During this
period he won his nickname “el guerrillero” because he with a group of bandits
led by Rodriguez and Jose Miguel Neira, began to do some guerrilla actions of
resistance, trying to make born the patriotic sentiment on the Chilean common
people that stayed in Chile during the reconquest period. Finally after
independence, Rodriguez had political quarrels with another important character
of Chilean history, Bernardo O'Higgins, blaming him for the dead of "Los
Hermanos Carrera" in Argentina. O'Higgins ordered apprehend Rodriguez
accusing him of troublemaker. When he was being transferred to the prison in
Quillota, nearby Til Til, he was cowardly shot in the back by Lt. Antonio
Navarro. His remains were transferred from Til Til to Santiago.
Some people
say that he was just a revolutionary and that he didn’t do important things
compared with another characters on history but I admire him because of his
courage, his patriotism and for being who made born on common people the
Chilean spirit of perseverance, hope and trust on the patriot cause. After
Cancha Rayada battle when the people thought that everything was lost, he
motivated the people with the great phrase “aún tenemos patria ciudadanos”.
Also he
appears in the two thousand pesos bill and the FPMR took his name inspired on
him but that’s another story xD. Greetings.

My favorite
song.
There are a
lot of songs of different bands that I really like but I think that my favorite
song is Blackbird by Alter Bridge (It was written and composed by Alter Bridge,
not a cover of the homologue song by The Beatles, a good song anyway). Alter
Bridge is an American band formed in 2004 (they are not well known). The band
consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Myles Kennedy, lead guitarist and
backing vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott
Phillips.
The song
was realized in the second album of the band named Blackbird too. The song is a metaphor that talks about a blackbird
that flies away, escaping of the suffering of his world to find the freedom. It
represents the dead of a good friend of the vocalist, Mark Morse, who died as
the song was being written. Mark Morse sold vocalist first guitar when he was a
kid. The lyrics were written by Myles Kennedy himself.
It is
the band's longest song to date with nearly eight minutes long. The critic says
that this song represent the crowing point of the album and band career. The
solo of the song that is performed by both Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti, was
chosen as the greatest guitar solo of all time by the Guitarist Magazine,
defeating great songs as Sweet Child of Mine or November Rain solos by Slash of
Guns and Roses and the previous winner of the magazine, the solo of Hotel
California by Eagles (A great song too).
I like this
song first because Alter Bridge is one of my favorite bands, second because it’s
a really good song: it has some amazing vocals by Myles Kennedy, really good
bridges and chorus and finally that great solo performed by Myles and Mark (in
my opinion not the best of the history but one of the best that I listened). I
really loved this song since I hear it like two years ago when I began listening
Alter Bridge. It brings me good memories of the past but when I realized of the
lyrics I discover that it was a really sad song. Well, whatever, I share it
with you. Greetings people.

I
photograph I like
Well, this
picture was taken by the camera itself, using the timer and putting it on a
tripod. On the picture you can see me and my best friends of the worldJ. They were all my classmates at
Liceo Camilo Henriquez of Temuco.
It was
taken in the last time that we were all together before go to study to different
parts in Chile. It was in December 21 of 2013 (after that we have some meetings
but always one of my friends or me could not attend because of vacations
sometimes or because we had to do the paperwork at universities, so we were not
all together)
One of my
friends, Pablo (the blonde one) stay in Temuco to study Medical Technology at
Universidad de la Frontera, the guy behind me that wear a shirt (Rodrigo)
is
studying at Valparaiso the career of Engineering at Universidad Técnica
Federico Santa María, the black guy behind him (Mauro) is living at Concepción
now, he studies Geology at Universidad de Concepción and the others including
me are studying here in Santiago: the guy wearing the white T-shirt (Felipe) is
studying Medicine at Universidad Católica, the guy with the black T-shirt
(Benjamin) is studying Engineering at Universidad Católica too and the guy beside
me (Orlando) is studying to be a Commercial Pilot at Universidad Federico Santa
María.
As you can see we are all studying very
different careers (except for Benjamin and Rodrigo) in very different places of
Chile and we have not been all together again since that occasion, that’s the
reason because I like this picture, we look very happy and we were. We spent a
lot of time together, laughing, playing games, chatting, drinking and a lot of
things that I really miss to do with them. Nobody can replace them L (it sounds very depressive). Well, I
hope to see them again at winter vacation or some weekend maybe.
Greetings!

Christianity
Well, the religion
always is a polemic topic. You can be like all the day discussing about it,
between people of other religions or between Christians and atheists. We can
see in history the influence of religion in general from moral things until the
things that you must eat or not eat.
I am an
atheist, but my family in general is very Christian (Catholics and protestants)
and it was not an easy matter. I am really respectful of the beliefs of other
people but my position is hard to understand for them. I hate when the people
try to impose their faith, but I really hate more when the other atheist try to
show them as the smartest people of the world. I think that being all a life
believing in something and arrive to the conclusion of not believe in nothing
is a hard and personal process, that require a lot of study and reading. You cannot
be atheist because it’s fashion or nice.
I admire
some things of Christianity. I personally think that Jesus existed (because it’s
written on the history) and he was a very wise philosopher (but he was just
human). I like the holidays of Christianity as Christmas day(I hate when people
say that the atheist should not celebrate Christmas, in fact originally it was
not even a Christian party) or Easter because it’s a good moment to be with
family, having a good time and give and receive presents or chocolates.
There are
more things that I dislike of religion but I prefer to keep them to me to avoid
the polemic, because it’s a topic that require time to be discus.

My favorite
piece of technology.

I got my
laptop on 2013 summer when I was just paid of my first job in a car park (I was
the guy that check the license plate of all the vehicles that get into the
park, but that’s another story). I was very proud of it, because I got it with
my own job and I was so happy because I really needed it.
I use my
laptop for everything, I mean to study, to read, to chat with my family in
Temuco L, to
listen music, to play computer games, to be informed of the news, etc.
When I’m
not at university or when I’m not reading, I’m using the laptop.
I like it
because it’s very useful for me. It lets me be in contact with my family
without paying bigger costs (just internet). I can use it to distract myself,
etc.
Without my
computer, or without computers, the life would be really different than it is.
We would not have automatic cashiers or we would not be in contact with people
around the world. We would not know about that news that happen in other parts
of the earth, etc. If the computers would disappear now, the world would be a chaos.

My courses
Well, the
first semester is one of the most important to anybody that get into a new
career and I hope to do my best in all the subjects. I have four obligatory
subjects: introduction to law, history of law, microeconomic and moral philosophy
(we already had the test on Thursday, and it was not really easy, in fact, it
was hard, but I tried to write all the things that I knew). All this subjects
are necessary to get other subjects for the second semester and almost every freshman
took them. About optative subjects, I have two of them, institutions of Roman law;
a subject that give more credits than the others optative courses and it’s much
recommended for the other students. The other optative is accounting. And
finally I took English because it is very necessary and useful to look for a
job in the future or to study abroad maybe.
My
expectations for this semester are not very complicated. First of all, survive
in Santiago and in the university, then to pass all the courses with an
acceptable grade, but the most important I think is try to learn something of
all this and try to enjoy too.

Hello. My name is Bastián Venegas. I'm 18
years old. I'm not from Santiago. I born in Temuco the 12nd of September of
1995. I moved to Santiago to from the south of Chile to study Laws at
Universidad de Chile. Until March, I lived with my parents, Alex and Karina, my
younger brother, Antonio, my cat, Sabina and my little dog, Loki. They lived in
Padre las Casas, a small city beside Temuco. In this moment I'm living at Ñuñoa
in a pension with my cousin Jorge, he studies History Pedagogy at Universidad
Metropolitana de las Ciencias de la Educación, and we are both freshmen
students.
I studied at Colegio Mundo Mágico (yeah, I
know that it sounds like a kindergarden, but it was a good elementary school).
In high school, I studied at Liceo Camilo Henríquez and then I came here to
Santiago to study Rights.
I always have liked a lot the history and
the letters. I like reading, , listening to music, watching movies, being with
my friends, listening to music, etc.
Greetings people!
